EGEA 2018: Find the videos of the interventions and the presentations

The 8th edition of the EGEA Conference was held in Lyon from November 7th to 9th, 2018. These 3 days of multidisciplinary exchange made it possible to get a full picture of knowledge on food and chronic diseases prevention; to identify keys for doctors so that they allocate more time to prevention in their practice; but also to strengthen broader recommendations to make the food system healthier and more sustainable. You may find the interventions’ videos as well as the presentations on www.egeaconference.com

The link between eating and health has been known for a long time. WHO considers unhealthy diet as one of the major risk factor for our health, just like tobacco and alcohol. Obesity affects one in eight adults in the world. In Europe, one in three children is either overweight or obese.

Gather all stakeholders

Given the situation and in the context of the United Nations Decade of Action on Nutrition, EGEA 2018 Conference was held in Lyon. It gathered more than 300 participants – international scientists, healthcare professionals, policy makers, representatives of the civil society and F&V sector – coming from 30 countries. Throughout this 8th edition, 54 speakers presented the latest advances in nutrition and health. Exchange and interactive participation led to the development of concrete, scientifically based recommendations, especially:

  • Encourage fruit and vegetables consumption from early age
  • Healthcare professionals have a key role to play
  • Strengthen the collaboration between doctor and dietitian
  • Make schools a place for “healthy eating”
  • Improve food systems for humans and the planet

A challenge requiring the contribution of everyone

To encourage healthy lifestyle and let the healthy choice be the easiest, the contribution of everyone is required. This challenge is not only on an individual level, but it is based above all on political and societal choices on health, agriculture or education. Because these fields shape the environment in which individual evolve and condition their choices.
