Sustainability
The sustainability of the food system will be at the heart of the EGEA 2023 conference, but sustainability will also be one of the key words in the design of the event itself. In this view, the organizing committee’s goal is to minimize the conference’s environmental footprint while guaranteeing the conference experience by:
- Choosing venue that is committed to sustainability
- Encouraging the use of trains and public transportation for delegates
- Using sustainable and recyclable materials
- Reducing of waste and especially food waste for breaks and catering
- Including a large proportion of plant and raw foods in the catering (fruits, vegetables, cereals, legumes)
- Having a “pedestrian first” conference with the choice of a venue that can accommodate many delegates on site, and in an area proposing numerous accommodation options nearby
- Calculating of the global footprint of the congress and implementing of a compensation action
