Following a lunch at the cafeteria of the Maison de l’Alimentation Solidaire de Celleneuve, the associations Vrac & Cocinas, L’Esperluette, LaBoca, and the Caisse Alimentaire de Montpellier present an overview of the dynamics of food democracy and the actions implemented as part of the TerrAsol project (Territoire Agricole et Alimentaire Solidaire).

This project aims to demonstrate the value of a new approach and a new governance model for food transitions, based on the concepts of solidarity and food democracy in the Montpellier area. The Caisse Alimentaire Commune plays a central role in this initiative by operating like a social security system for food: everyone contributes according to their means and receives a food budget to access sustainable, high-quality products in participating venues. It is based on a democratic governance model that brings together citizens, associations, and local authorities to collectively organize equitable access to chosen food for everyone.
